The riders

As with all motorsports, riders play a crucial role: it is their job to be the fastest, most reliable competitor. They must also provide an analysis of the motorcycle’s behaviour for the mechanics to tweak the settings. The three riders in each team take turns on the bike, splitting the 24 hours between them. This implies plenty of teamwork as the bike’s settings have to suit all three riders. To enter the track, they must wear two retro-reflective armbands at all times, from practice to the actual race.

Apart from official works team members, most riders are amateurs and hold down a day job alongside their racing commitments. Riders must be at least 18 years of age to compete in the 24 Heures Motos.
