Modern racecars, like any car today, are chuck full of electronics designed to monitor the performance of individual mechanical parts and change individual parameters. The engineers are assigned this task every second of the race. During 24 hours of racing, driving conditions – tire wear and tear, weather, traffic on the track – constantly change and require ongoing precision-tuning of the cars. Working with the drivers, the engineer defines the strategy and manages pit stops, tire wear or even fuel consumption.
