As there is no radio link, the teams communicate with their riders during the race by means of a pit board. One or two team members put the relevant information on the pit board and show it to their rider who occasionally acknowledges with a nod or a hand gesture. Signallers have been posted at the pit wall since 1991, when major work was undertaken at the circuit and the current pits were built.
